Disappointing:

Obviously yet another government plant in attempt to disparage the ufo investigative community.

Purported UFO video to be shown Friday

A video that purportedly shows a living, breathing space alien will be shown to the news media Friday in Denver.

Jeff Peckman, who is pushing a ballot initiative to create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission in Denver to prepare the city for close encounters of the alien kind, said the video is authentic and convinced him that aliens exist.

"As impressive as it is, it's still one tiny portion in the context of a vast amount of peripheral evidence," he said Wednesday. "It's really the final visual confirmation of what you already know to be true having seen all the other evidence."

Worth reading (and a funny read too):

7 Insane Conspiracies That Actually Happened

I've discussed the first on their list before, but it really bears repeating.

#7.The Business Plot

The Plan:
In 1933, group of wealthy businessmen that allegedly included the heads of Chase Bank, GM, Goodyear, Standard Oil, the DuPont family and Senator Prescott Bush tried to recruit Marine Corps Major General Smedley Butler to lead a military coup against President FDR and install a fascist dictatorship in the United States. And yes, we're talking about the same Prescott Bush who fathered one US President and grandfathered another one.

How did that work out?
A good rule of thumb: never trust a man named Smedley to run your hostile military coup for you. Besides being no fan of fascism, Smedley Butler was both a patriot and a vocal FDR supporter. Apparently none of these criminal masterminds noticed that their prospective point man had actively stumped for FDR in 1932.

Smedley spilled the beans to a congressional committee in 1934. Everyone he accused of being a conspirator vehemently denied it, and none of them were brought up on criminal charges. Still, the House McCormack-Dickstein Committee did at least acknowledge the existence of the conspiracy, which ended up never getting past the initial planning stages.

Though many of the people who had allegedly backed the Business Plot also maintained financial ties with Nazi Germany up through America's entry into World War II.
Other things covered in the list:

#6 The July 20 Plot (Operation Valkyrie to kill Hitler)
#5 Operation Ajax (Britain and American influence in overthrowing the democratically elected governor of Iran and installing the Shah - that really worked out well for everyone didn't it.)
#4 The Gunpowder Plot (how Guy Fawkes gave us that cool V for Vendetta comic and movie)
#3 The Tuskegee Experiment (You listen to Rev. Wright and think he's insane to think that the government would drug blacks? Read about the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment to learn more about where he's coming from.
#2 Operation Snow White (How Scientology broke infiltrated many parts of the US Government to destroy anything anti-Scientology)
#1 Project MKULTRA (you know the one where our tax dollars were used to drug our citizens? Now we just do it to terror suspects).

Give it a read.

Quick UFO Update

Good News Catholic TFC readers! Your belief in UFOs is okay with the Pope! So as long as you stop with the hamburger eating on Fridays while watching X-Files reruns you are in the clear:

Vatican: It's OK to believe in aliens

VATICAN CITY - Believing that the universe may contain alien life does not contradict a faith in God, the Vatican's chief astronomer said in an interview published Tuesday.
And that is really good news because there is something in the air… and what’s in the air is a UFO!

Britain releases batch of files on UFO sightings
LONDON -- The men were air traffic controllers. Experienced, calm professionals. Nobody was drinking. But they were so worried about losing their jobs that they demanded their names be kept off the official report.

No one, they knew, would believe their claim an unidentified flying object landed at the airport they were overseeing in the east of England, touched down briefly, then took off again at tremendous speed. Yet that's what they reported happened at 4 p.m. on April 19, 1984.

The incident is one of hundreds of reported sightings contained in more than 1,000 pages of formerly secret UFO documents being released Wednesday by Britain's National Archives. It is one of the few that was never explained.
And there is also news from this side of the pond:

UFO: NEW BOOK DISCLOSES UFO CRASH
A retired U.S. Air Force colonel and former fighter jet pilot says that he chased a UFO across West Texas and watched it crash along the Rio Grande River near Del Rio, Texas. Shortly after, he visited the crash site and saw a metallic object unlike any aircraft he had ever seen “sticking into the side of a hill.” Decorated World War II and Korean War veteran Robert B. Willingham, 82, discloses his strange 1955 encounter in a new book titled "The Other Roswell: UFO Crash on the Texas-Mexico border," written by UFO researchers Noe Torres and Ruben Uriarte.
